If you are interested in scheduling an appointment, please phone Dr. Fenton at 443-602-6426. You will reach her confidential and private voicemail. Leave a brief message describing your concerns and the best phone number and times to reach. You may additionally email Dr. Fenton at jfentonphd@gmail.com, recognizing that email is not a secure medium and thus confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. Your  email should also include a phone number where you may be reached. You will receive contact from Dr. Fenton shortly, generally within twenty-four to forty-eight hours.

Dr. Fenton offers a free phone consultation to briefly discuss your concerns and interest in psychotherapy. The phone consultation is an opportunity to determine together whether her services will best meet your needs. If it is determined that another type of services would be a better fit, Dr. Fenton will provide you with the contact information for other providers. 

Evening appointments are available at her practice. Hours are by appointment only. Sessions take place at her office in Towson, near the courthouse. Free parking is available.

The First Appointment

The first appointment will last up to an hour. You will be provided space to discuss your presenting concerns, the issues that bring you to therapy. Dr. Fenton will ask you questions in order to understand your concerns fully. You will also be asked to discuss other areas of your life including relationships, work and school, and your interests and passions. This initial appointment is an opportunity to begin getting to know each other.

At the end of the appointment, Dr. Fenton will provide feedback including her understanding of problem, discussion of potential diagnoses, and the ways treatment may be helpful. She may additionally have suggestions for books or homework assignments that will allow you to begin working on your presenting concerns immediately.

Psychotherapy often deals with private and sensitive issues. Confidentiality is an ethical and legal boundary that allows you to feel safe discussing anything relevant to your treatment. The information that you share in the session will remain confidential unless you should share concerns about your own or others safety. There are additional limitations if you are a minor.
